YouDebate

The 2020 YouDebate competition took on a very different look this year. With COVID-19 restrictions, border closures and social distancing in full effect, the challenge of how to run this very exciting and high-energy competition was a very real one for the Australian Universal Federation. Enter Zoom!

Six year nine students from our very own Debating and Public Speaking elective took on the challenge. Adel Yassine, Armin Jahfari, Anjleen Zahra, Esra Eliss, Aurpi Chowdhury and Nasra Sheik all debated with passion and poise. Their commitment to this competition and representing our college in the best way possible was something to behold. From Sunday morning Zoom preparation sessions to Tuesday evening trail debates, their hard work and dedication never wavered.

Both teams advanced through the tough group stages of the competition and into the finals. Our second team made up of Esra, Aurpi and Nasra continued through the finals competition and ultimately finished in third place overall.

I would like to personally thank all of these students for their passion, commitment and the manner in which they competed and represented our college.
